Exudative retinal detachment can be classified into two types: serous retinal detachment and hemorrhagic retinal detachment, neither of which involves retinal tears. Serous retinal detachment is observed in conditions such as Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease, uveitis, posterior scleritis, uveal effusion syndrome, malignant hypertension, pregnancy-induced hypertensive syndrome, central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC), Coats' disease, choroidal tumors, and other related disorders. Hemorrhagic retinal detachment is primarily associated with wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD) and ocular trauma. Management is focused on treating the underlying condition.
